Srinagar: Srinagar, the summer capital of northernmost Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, is situated in Kashmir valley (paradise on earth) and lies on the river Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus. The city is well known for its enchanting valleys and traditional Kashmir handicrafts and dry fruits.
Srinagar is also famous for its attractive lakes such as Dal Lake, Nagin Lake. Just outside the city are found the Shalimar Garden founded by Jahangir, the Mughal emperor, in 1619.
Srinagar has several gardens which are part of the several such gardens laid by the Mughal emperors across the Indian subcontinent, and which are known as Mughal gardens. The Mughal Gardens located in Srinagar and its close vicinity includes Chashma Shahi (the royal fountains); Pari Mahal (the palace of the fairies); Nishat Bagh (the garden of spring); Shalimar Bagh ; and the Naseem Bagh.
Day 01: Arrive Srinagar
Arrive Srinagar, transfer to houseboat, day free. Evening, enjoy short hike around Srinagar market. Overnight in houseboat.
Day 02: Explore Srinagar
After breakfast, local sightseeing of Srinagar, Mughal gardens like Nishat (Garden of pleasure), Shalimar (Abode of Love), Cheshmashai (Royal spring) and also visit Shankaracharya temple. Later come back to House Boat for overnight stay.
Day 03: Srinagar – Zoji-La (3528 m) – Kargil (204 km)
Drive Srinagar to Kargil with pack Lunch. Stop at Sonamarg (valley of golded meadows) and have Lunch there. After having Lunch with the amazing view of the surrounding hills and meadows, continue towards Kargil by crossing the Zojila pass (Gateway of Ladakh). Overnight at Hotel in Kargil.(3200m)
Day 04 : Kargil – Fotu-La (4090 m) - Lamayuru – Ulleytokpo (163 km)
After early breakfast, drive Kargil to Ulleytokpo. It takes 6hrs drive to reach at Ulleytokpo. Enroute visit 11th century rock curved statue at Mulbek, Lamayuru monastery (11th century) and Arrive Ulleytokpo by evening. Overnight at Ulley resort.(3040m)
Day 05: Drive Ulleytokpo – Alchi – Sangam - Magnetic Hill - Pathar Sahib (Gurudwara) - Hall of Fame - Leh (78 km)
Morning, after breakfast, visit the well preserved ancient monastery of Alchi then drive to Leh. En route enjoy the view of Sangam (confluence of Indus and Zanskar River), Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib (Gurudwara), Hall of Fame (Kargil war hero museum). Overnight at hotel in Leh (3500m)
Day 06: Sightseeing In Leh Samkar Monastery – Shanti Stupa – Leh Palace
Post breakfast, free. Post Lunch, visit Samkar monastery, Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace (Nine storey). Overnight stay at hotel. (3500m)
Day 07: Drive Leh – Khardung-La (5602 m) - Nubra (120 km)
Morning after breakfast, drive to Nubra, 120 km from Leh and it takes about 4-5 hrs drive, by crossing Khardung-la (The highest motorable road in the world 5602 m). On the way, you have amazing panoramic view of Indus valley, Shayok River, Himalayan Mountains and Karakoram Range. Post Lunch at hotel, drive to Hunder where you enjoy the Double humped bacterian camel riding (Optional). After then drive back to Deskit (administrative block of Nubra valley) and visit the monastery and recently built huge statue of Maitreya Buddha (100ft,Future Buddha). The most attractive features of Nubra valley is the sand dune. Explore the Nubra valley "The valley of flowers". Overnight at hotel/ fixed camp. (3165m)
Day 08: Drive Nubra - Leh (120 km)
Morning, after breakfast, drive back to Leh along the same road. Arrive Leh by afternoon. Post Lunch free to explore Leh.
Day 09: Leh - Full Day Tour to Pangong Lake - Back to Leh (170 km one way)
Morning, drive to Pangong Lake 170 km from Leh. Today you cross Chang-la pass (The world's third highest motorable pass 5300m). On the way, you have amazing view of charming villages, beautiful mountains, animals like Yaks, nomads and beautiful valley of Changthang. Arrive at Lake, the Lake is 136 km long and 5-10km wide, 47% of this lake is in India and rest is in Tibet. The view of lake is spectacular and breathtaking. Enjoy the unforgettable scenery beauty of Lake and the voice of Himalayan migrant birds .Spend few hours there while overwhelming, captivating the beauty of nature and later on drive back to Leh. Overnight at Hotel in Leh. (3500m)
Day 10: Flight Leh – Delhi
Early morning transfer to Airport to take flight for Delhi.
